The Himalaya

The Himalaya is the top of the world (come on, I'm allowed one cliche). Everest, K2, Annapurna, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu.... The list of 8,000 meter high peaks is too long (14) to fit here. Suffice to say, this is arguably the most intense, most dangerous, and most spectacular range of them all.

The History of Lhotse

Lhotse is an iconic peak in the Himalayas, standing at 8,516 meters (27,940 feet) in elevation. It is the fourth-highest mountain in the world, and is part of the Everest massif, located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas. It has been a popular climbing destination for many years, and its history of climbing is associated with many famous mountaineers.

Mt Fuji

Mt Fuji doesn't have the same extreme dangers as the other mountains that we've covered here, but it's iconic enough to deserve it's own entry. At 12,389.2 ft it's the highest mountain in Japan, and dare I say, the most beautiful as well. It's climbed by hundreds of thousands of people every year, but it can still be very dangerous due to extreme weather in the winter. But at least it hasn't erupted for a really long time....
